The
American Heritage Dictionary defines the word "BESOTTED" in the following
manner: "muddled or stupefied, esp. through alcohol intoxication. The
definition at face value seems to indicate the recipient should be the
player most intoxicated at a particular game, but no....the word "BESOTTED"
was chosen to express the impact of the recipient's performance on fellow
teammates.
In determining your selection, it should be noted that this award is to be given to the person who has surpassed your expectations concerning athletic skill and has also exhibited a positive, winning attitude at all times. Adherence to the Renegades' Official Code of Conduct Directives should weigh heavily in your decision.
October 19, 2012...The comeback is now complete. Paul Lamarre is now officially
Besotted after winning the 2012 Besotted Bison Award. Lamarre won the award in
another close vote, edging 2003 winner Al Miller in a vote held after game three
Wednesday night at Ebersol. Since re-joining the Renegades in 2010 after a
7-year absence, Lamarre has been a catalyst for the Bisons on and off the field
since his return but the 2012 season was by far his best as a Renegade. Lamarre
led the Bisons this past season in RBI with 29 and in runs scored with 22. He
also had 27 hits and finished the season with a BA of .730, 15 extra base hits,
50 total bases and a slugging % of 1.381, all career highs. But where Lamarre
had really made his mark has been off the field as he has given Bison legend Al
Miller quite a run for King of the Post Game Show. Since his triumphant and
unexpected return in 2010, Lamarre has been as valuable off the field as he has
been on it for Loosian's Boys of Summer. Congratulations are in order for a
great 2012 season and a well deserved Besotted Bison. Lets hope that Paul
"Rocker" Lamarre is in a Bison uniform for many years to come.
